India's AI Model Hanooman Aims to Bridge the Digital Divide

  • Focus on Local Languages: Unlike most AI models, Hanooman is designed to understand and respond in 11 Indian languages, with the goal of eventually covering all 22. This tackles the challenge of English dominance and aims to make AI accessible to a wider population.
  • Multiple Applications: This AI isn't just a chatbot. Hanooman can generate text, speech, and even videos in various languages. It's designed to be used in healthcare, education, governance, and financial services.
  • Collaboration Effort: Developed by the BharatGPT group, Hanooman is a collaborative effort between Reliance Jio, IITs (Indian Institutes of Technology), and Seetha Mahalaxmi Healthcare.
  • Overcoming Challenges: The project acknowledges the limitations of existing datasets in Indian languages and is working to address potential inaccuracies.
