Jindal Stainless Paves the Way for Green Steel Production

  • First Mover: A Jindal Group company, Jindal Stainless Ltd (JSL), has inaugurated India's first green hydrogen plant dedicated to the stainless steel sector.
  • Located in Hisar, Haryana, the plant is a collaboration between JSL and Hygenco India, a green hydrogen facilities developer.
  • Green Fuel for Cleaner Steel: The plant will produce green hydrogen, a clean alternative to the currently used grey hydrogen derived from fossil fuels.
  • Emission Reduction: This shift is expected to significantly reduce JSL's carbon footprint by nearly 2,700 metric tons per year.
  • Long-Term Impact: The plant is anticipated to contribute to a total reduction of 54,000 tons of CO2 emissions over the next two decades.
