TCS Q4 Profit Up, Headcount Down

  • IT major Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) defied expectations with a 9% rise in net profit for Q4, reaching ₹12,434 crore.
  • Revenue also grew, albeit modestly, by 3.5% to ₹61,237 crore.
  • However, the quarter saw a historic first: a decline in headcount.
  • TCS shed 13,249 employees in FY24, bringing the total workforce down to 601,546.
  • This reversal comes after years of significant growth, with FY22 seeing an addition of over 1 lakh employees.
  • Despite the headcount news, TCS boasts its highest ever order book and a strong 26% operating margin, indicating continued business efficiency.
