Green Light for Delhi Infrastructure Projects

  • In a major boost for development, the Supreme Court has cleared the way for stalled infrastructure projects in Delhi.
  • The court upheld land acquisitions carried out by Delhi government bodies between 1957 and 2006.
  • These acquisitions, challenged by landowners, had delayed crucial projects.
  • The verdict paves the way for agencies like DDA and DMRC to resume work on long-pending infrastructure initiatives.
  • This is expected to expedite development in the national capital.
  • However, for acquisitions where possession wasn't taken or compensation provided, the court mandated fresh proceedings under the 2013 Land Acquisition Act within a year.
