Indian Government Plans 12 New Smart Cities, Project Cost: ₹28,500 Crore

  •  The Indian government has greenlit the establishment of 12 new industrial smart cities across various states. 
  •  With a total project cost of ₹28,500 crore, this initiative aims to bolster the country’s infrastructure, boost industrial growth, and attract global investments.
  •  These smart cities will be developed under the National Industrial Corridor Development Programme (NICDP).
  •  The cities will be spread across Gujarat, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Andhra Pradesh.
  •  The 12 new smart cities include:
    1. Dadri Noida Ghaziabad Investment Region (Uttar Pradesh)
      2. Shendra Bidkin Industrial Area (Maharashtra)
      3. Dholera Special Investment Region (Gujarat)
      4. Krishnapatnam Industrial Area (Andhra Pradesh)
      5. Tumakuru Industrial Area (Karnataka)
      6. Aurangabad Industrial Township (Maharashtra)
      7. Vikram Udyogpuri (Madhya Pradesh)
      8. Jodhpur Pali Marwar Industrial Area (Rajasthan)
      9. Hyderabad Pharma City (Telangana)
      10. Greater Noida Integrated Industrial Township (Uttar Pradesh)
      11. Ponneri Industrial Node (Tamil Nadu)
      12. Mandal-Becharaji Special Investment Region (Gujarat)
