Tata Group, India Semiconductor Mission Ink ₹91,000 Crore Deal for Gujarat Semiconductor Plant
Tata Electronics and Tata Semiconductor Manufacturing have signed an agreement with the India Semiconductor Mission (ISM) to set up a ₹91,000 crore semiconductor fabrication plant in Gujarat.
The project will be established in Dholera, Gujarat, marking a significant step in India’s goal of becoming a global semiconductor manufacturing hub.
The Government of India will fund 50% of the total investment under its semiconductor incentive scheme, aimed at reducing dependence on imports and strengthening India’s electronics ecosystem.
This state-of-the-art chip-making facility will focus on producing 28-nanometer chips, catering to industries such as automobiles, telecommunications, and consumer electronics.
The plant is expected to generate over 20,000 direct and indirect jobs, boosting local employment and economic growth.
Tata Group’s investment aligns with the "Make in India" and "Atmanirbhar Bharat" initiatives, ensuring technological self-reliance in semiconductor manufacturing.
Gujarat Chief Minister and Union Ministers hailed the agreement as a landmark move that will position India as a key player in the global semiconductor supply chain.
The project will be developed in collaboration with leading global technology partners, ensuring high-quality production and cutting-edge innovation.
