BEL Bags Big: ₹572 Crore Defence Orders Power India's Security Surge
Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL), the Navratna Defence PSU, has clinched fresh defence contracts worth ₹572 crore, delivering a major boost to India’s indigenous military capabilities.
The new orders include cutting-edge Integrated Drone Detection and Interdiction Systems (IDDIS), advanced Software Defined Radios (SDR), and Data Communication Units (DCU) for attack guns.
These systems will enhance the Indian armed forces’ ability to detect, neutralize, and communicate in the face of modern threats, including drone incursions and electronic warfare.
BEL’s latest contracts also feature AI-based solutions for naval ships, simulators, state-of-the-art communication equipment, jammers, spares, and associated services, reflecting a push for smarter, tech-driven defence infrastructure.
The company’s order book now stands at a staggering ₹71,650 crore as of April 2025, underlining its dominant role in India’s defence sector.
BEL’s robust performance is mirrored in its financials: Q3 FY25 profit after tax soared 47.3% year-on-year to ₹1,316 crore, with revenue jumping 38.6% to ₹5,770 crore.
The company’s shares have surged over 30% in the last six months, riding high on a wave of strong order inflows and investor confidence.
These orders come on the heels of BEL’s earlier ₹2,210 crore contract for Electronic Warfare Suites, showcasing its growing portfolio in advanced defence technology.
The government’s focus on self-reliance and ‘Make in India’ is driving demand for BEL’s indigenous solutions, reinforcing India’s defence preparedness amid evolving security challenges.
